THE BALANCING ACT: Achieving Work-Life Balance for Women on the Rise

“Women are superhumans!” “My Mom is my superhero!” Have you ever heard statements like this? I know we all have, and as kids, most of us believed these statements.

Now imagine this, a working mother wakes up before dawn to set breakfast for her family, feed the kids, and ensure everyone is ready for the day’s assignment while mentally preparing herself for her professional task of the day. So maybe you think this strain is only applied to a woman with a family but think about a single lady who is struggling with the weight of maintaining her fitness life, social life, and achieving her career goals, a work-life balance to her may seem like a dream that would never be achieved.

The truth is that women are humans and can experience tension, depression, and frustration if they fail to strike a balance between their work and personal life. However, we need to understand that work-life balance is a part of the Holistic Beauty of a woman.

A lot of women want to attain the work-life balance equilibrium but are unsure as to why they crave it.

This is simply the reason – the outcome of a no work-life balance is a worn-out, fatigued sometimes depressed woman while the outcome of a work-life balance is a radiant woman whose beauty is Holistic.

IMPORTANCE OF WORK-LIFE BALANCE

  1. Sound Mind and Healthy Body: A strained balance between professional and personal lives can significantly have a negative effect on the health and mind of working women.
  • Vitality for Family Engagement:  With a balanced professional and personal life structure, more women would have the time and energy to give their best (mentally and physically) to every facet of their lives.

The big question is HOW THEN CAN WORK-LIFE BALANCE BE ACHIEVED FOR WOMEN ON THE RISE?

  1. Establish Boundaries: In setting boundaries, you must limit external distractions and influences while working. These distractions take up your time and inadvertently lead to work overlap.
  • Learn to Say ‘NO’: Sometimes we must say no to demands and requests that tend to stretch us too thin; more importantly there is no need to feel guilty when you do.
  • Plan for Regular Breaks: You must schedule regular breaks and time off if you must improve your productivity and all-round effectiveness. These breaks should be scheduled for both working hours and at the end of a working year.
  • Flexibility at Work: You can come up with creative ways to spice up your working hours as you may seek to design a flexible working system for yourself. Do not be shy to talk to your boss or supervisor about the need to design a flexible work-hour system.
  • Quit Procrastination: You must learn never to move your tasks or assignments. Whenever you procrastinate you are taking from the free time you were supposed to have after this task was done. When you get your task done, you will have more time for yourself and your family.

Final Thoughts

Achieving the work-life balance will definitely take some time, but consistent engagement with the above-discussed strategies will definitely birth some changes. You are at liberty to create unique systems that work for you as there is no universal solution to the work-life balance dilemma.
